Elling (2001)
Sobre o filme
Indicated for an Oscar as best foreign film, Elling tells the story of two patients from a psychiatric hospital who, to be re-instated in society, must learn to live alone. An aspiring poet, Elling lived for 40 years with the support of his mother. After she dies, he is sent to a state institution where he meets Kjell Bjarne, virgin at the age of 40, gentle, a giant, and obsessed with women. After two years, they move to an apartment in Oslo with government subvention. Initially, the mere act of going to a supermarket is a challenge. Through their friendship, Elling and Kjell Bjarne discover not only that they can live alone, but that they can be successful. Their courage grows and both find a way to be on a par with society, with the weirdest friends in the most unexpected of places.
