Land of the Devil (2008)
Sobre o filme
After the end of the Conquest of the Desert (the Argentine government’s war on the country’s native Indians in 1879) Estanislao Zeballos found wooden boxes hastily buried in the Pampas. It was a discovery: the archive of Indian Chieftain Namuncurá. Zeballos was the first civilian to travel through and chart the conquered territory. He was also the ideologue of the government’s military campaign. His journey, however, transformed him. He became the first white man to show interest in the culture of the Indians. Treading in Zeballos’ footsteps, filmmaker Andrés Di Tella discovers unsuspected traces left by the long-forgotten extermination.
