In Barcelona in 1948, soldiers who fought in World War II are coming home once the final negotiations concerning the conflict are over. The stories they tell are the only factor to bring some life to the post-war atmosphere in the city. In one of these, a mythical hero sets out for Shanghai on a hazardous mission. Meanwhile, an old fighter stands up to some bad characters, a beautiful cinema box office girl walks about in the streets at night, and a young anarchist devotes his time to telling himself stories. Dani, a boy of 14, discovers first love in painting a portrait of Susana, one year older than he. And, far away from all of this, in Shanghai, a hero of the Republic meets a femme fatale with oriental eyes.
