Peter has just been released from prison and is on his way to live with his sister Maria. They have a weird relationship, and even have a bath together. While Peter tries to find his place in the world once more, Maria is concerned with Maya, a girl of 17 who has given birth to a baby boy on the floor of the laundry where they work. Maria decides she will look after the newborn and pretends to be the mother, in an attempt to exert pressure on her boyfriend to assume a more serious commitment with her. Maya, however, wants the baby back. Peter, the only one to know the truth, is caught in the midst of the tension between both women. To make matters worse, he falls in love with Maya, but she has enough on her hands with a jealous boyfriend.
