Cerca de La Frontera (1999)
Sobre o filme
Estevan is a journalist in danger of his life. He lives in Buenos Aires and the year is 1978, during the military dictatorship. He is in danger because of an article that he wrote for a newspaper. His personal conflicts are also a threat. He decides to flee in the direction of the northern frontier. Among the people at the frontier, he gets to know Gabriel, a priest with ideas and with action that are not exactly pleasing to a traditional church. It is as from this site and this encounter that his life is to define itself. Filmed and inspired by the landscape of the province of Jujuy and, especially, in the zone of the Termas de Reyes, he also uses locations at La Quaica, Purmamarca and Tumbaya (Argentina), and Villazón (Bolivia). This was a project initiated in the nineties that met with several difficulties in production. For this reason, Rodolfo Durán now has a dream: "To make his next film before he is the age of ninety."
