Song of the Scarlet Flower (1919)
Sobre o filme
A transition film, between comedies at the start of his career as a director and his more complex, romantic dramas at the end. An enigmatic, attractive woodman has an affair with three different women where each episode represents moral apprenticeship to the lonely hero until he decides to cease with his Don Juan existence and settle down to building a family. Filmed in Norrland, in northeast Sweden, the exotic mountains, vast forests and wild rivers are used by the director to create metaphors and associations between nature, the story to be told, and the psychology of the main characters. The first of a long series of adaptations of the novel by Johannes Linnankoski of Finland.
