One Way Ticket to Mombasa (2002)
Sobre o filme
Pete, a student aged 17, is suddenly taken ill and taken to hospital. The diagnosis is cancer, and the boy may not live to the age of 18. In the hospital, Pete shares a room with sarcastic Jusa who also has the disease. On the night Jusa is 18, the boys get thoroughly drunk on vodka and decide to run away. Jusa has a fixation – to visit the beaches of Mombasa, in Kenya, and would like to do this before he dies. Pete would like to declare his love for Kata, the girl of his dreams that he met at school. With this in mind, they first go to Lapland, in Finland, where Kata holds a summer job, but with tickets to Mombasa already purchased. In Jusa’s company, Pete experiences a type of life and of joy he had never before had, secure within the confines of the middle class. He tells Kata he loves her, but not that he is ill.
