Well on his way to a secure career as official artist for Yugoslavia under Marshall Tito, Kusturica rebelled and produced an affront to the regime with his film The Brides Are Coming. In this feature for television, the filmmaker broached a polemic issue, namely incest, and gave rise to a series of controversy in his country. The film is being shown for the first time in Brazil.
