The film follows a week in the life of Llewyn Davis, a young folk singer, as he navigates through the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961. Guitar in tow, huddled against the unforgiving New York winter, he is struggling to make it as a musician against seemingly insurmountable obstacles - some of them of his own making. He survives thanks to the help of friends and strangers, while accepting all sorts of jobs. From the Village coffee shops to a deserted club in Chicago, his adventures will lead him to an audition for music giant Bug Grossman.
