Wild Bees (2001)
Sobre o filme
Cut off from the busy world, the inhabitants of a village to the extreme north of Moravia, Czech Republic, forgotten in the frenzy of the twenty-first century, lead their lives as they can and, in spite of a lack of money and prospects, with no apparent concern, are undecided between clinging to a belief in a better world and a path of boredom and despair. After four decades under the communist Iron Curtain, the little that was left lies in ruins, desert fields, with a generalized feeling of hopelessness. This is the world for Kaya, a shy young wood cutter in love with Bozhka, whose heart belongs to immature Ladya, a kind of demodé playboy, ardent fan of Michael Jackson. Bozhka is not at all happy with the relationship, but, on the other hand, she lacks the strength to face up to yet another break. One of the few opportunities of breaking the monotony is nigh: the Annual Firemen’ Ball. And there, one evening, the dreams and fate for Kaya, Bozhka, Ladya, and the other inhabitants of the city are to cross there. Will all be any different the next morning?
