One day, in Paris, Emílio Belmonte heard about a hospital-boat travelling throughout the Brazilian forest and wanted to learn more about the subject. He made his way to the Tapajós river to film a place he had never before seen. He arrived in the Amazon region with the eyes of a child and was led on by a name that meant nothing to him: Abaré.
