While awaiting the call for boarding, the characters are introduced: an advertising model, a soccer team with its players and managers, a middle-aged man, visibly nervous about the possible dangers of the trip, two nuns, and a boy who, at the newsstand, looks for what to take to read during the flight. This boy finds, among adventure and police novels, a pocket edition of The Posthumous Memoirs of Brás Cubas, by Machado de Assis. During the flight, several individual conflicts of the airplane passengers arise. Among these problems, one of the nuns gains importance, in which the individual and the collective collides.
